Celebrating the Spirit of Giving: How Philanthropy Fuels Innovation with Purpose at Ontario Tech

Ontario Tech students benefit every day from the generosity of donors, partners and volunteers who help fuel the university's purpose-driven innovation.

In celebration of National Philanthropy Day, Ontario Tech University proudly recognizes the donors, partners and volunteers whose generosity shapes a better future for our students, our communities and our planet.

Every act of giving, whether through time, leadership or financial support, helps bring to life Ontario Tech's vision of Tech with a Conscience. This vision drives everything we do: advancing ethical innovation in artificial intelligence (AI), leading clean energy research, and creating opportunities that ensure technology serves humanity responsibly.

Your generosity fuels progress across our key institutional priorities:

  • AI for Good: Supporting research that uses artificial intelligence to improve lives, including enhancing healthcare delivery to advancing accessibility and education.

  • Ethical AI: Promoting responsible innovation and guiding the development of technology that is transparent, inclusive and grounded in human values.

  • Energy Innovation: Investing in the transition to clean, sustainable energy systems that protect our planet and build resilient communities.

This year's National Philanthropy Day video features Gloria Koya, a Nursing student from the Class of 2027. Gloria shares how donor support has allowed her to pursue mental health research and focus on her studies without financial worry. Her story is just one of many examples of how philanthropy empowers students to thrive and to make an impact.
