Man Charged in Facebook Marketplace Armed Robbery

January 10, 2025, Peoria, IL - Today, Tobias W. Taylor, 24, was charged with Aggravated Robbery for stealing four pairs of shoes at gunpoint during a Facebook Marketplace sale. A detention hearing was held, and the State's Petition to Detain was granted, meaning he will remain in custody until trial.

Around 6 pm on October 26, 2024, police responded to the Knollridge Apartment Complex in North Peoria on a report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, the victim told police he had arranged the sale of some shoes he had listed on Facebook Marketplace. At the scheduled meet-up, the victim was met by two males. One male demanded that the victim hand over the shoes, or else his friend would shoot him, and that is when the second male brandished a handgun. The victim handed over the shoes, and the suspects fled. During the investigation, police developed Taylor as a suspect in the case, and the victim identified him as one of the robbers.
