The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) has made an arrest in a fatal crash that occurred in May 2026.

On Monday, August 10, 60-year-old Joy Fritz-Hock of Harvard, NE turned herself into LPD where she was cited and released for Misdemeanor Motor Vehicle Homicide.

The crash occurred on Friday, May 22, just after 10:30 a.m. The investigation determined Fritz-Hock was driving south on 48th Street and attempted to turn left onto R Street. Her vehicle, a 2003 red Dodge Caravan, with three people inside, collided with a 2015 red Toyota RAV4 with three people inside. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries, including 84-year-old Maxine Sundberg of Clarks, NE. She later died from those injuries on June 14.

Investigators believe Fritz-Hock unintentionally caused the death of Sundberg by failing to yield, leading to the collision. She is set to be arraigned in September.
