ARLINGTON, TEXAS, Jan. 7, 2025- Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Azle, Texas Harris Methodist Hospital Southlake and Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth earned 2024 Press Ganey Human Experience Awards.
Press Ganey, a global leader in healthcare experience solutions and services, annually ranks the top hospitals and health systems in the country according to performance in patient experience, employee experience, physician experience, clinical quality performance and consumer experience.
"We are honored to receive these awards as recognition of the safe, high-quality and reliable care we provide to millions of North Texans," said Kirk King, Hospital Channel chief operating officer. "At Texas Health, we are committed to putting the consumer at the center of all we do and improving the health of the people in the communities we serve."
Two categories of recognition were announced: the Human Experience Guardian of Excellence Award® and the Human Experience Pinnacle of Excellence Award®. The 2024 Texas Health honorees include:
"One of the greatest impacts we can make on the patient experience is being purposeful in every interaction," said Bianca Radney, vice president, Patient and Family Experience. "Every care team member at Texas Health makes an impact, whether talking to a consumer on the phone, greeting them at a practice, providing instructions at an event, caring for them in a hospital bed or passing them in a hallway."
Radney said quarterly best practices meetings and the system's Words Matter initiative also contributed to Texas Health earning these awards. Words Matter materials help care team members intentionally talk with patients and family members to use bias-free language. Resources focus on using inclusive language and showing compassionate support for patients and consumers of all backgrounds.
The Press Ganey awards recognize how excellent patient care is being delivered at Texas Health Azle, Texas Health Southlake and Texas Health Southwest. That focus starts with hiring care team members who are passionate about healthcare and includes creating a positive, compassionate environment in which patients come first.
For example, at Texas Health Azle, patients are escorted to radiology appointments. Once the procedure is complete, patients are accompanied until their rides arrive. At Texas Health Southlake, employees are encouraged to share ideas to help improve patient care. Texas Health Southwest has refined the system's collaborative process, High Reliability Rounding (HRR). Every day, leaders visit departments across Texas Health Southwest with a focus on intentionally connecting, checking-in, addressing concerns, and committing to following-up on information gathered.
