The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences Department of Dermatology receiveda Competitive Clinical Research Grant from Eli Lilly and Company.

The grant is to study the effectiveness of atopic triadscreening and education to reduce the burden of atopic dermatitis and its related comorbidities.

Since 2021, the department has hosted free monthly telehealth clinics to increase access to dermatologic education and care for residents in wards 7 and 8. These clinics have served more than 500 patients and have focused on atopic dermatitis, alopecia areata and psoriatic disease. Through the grant, researchers will evaluate whether early screening improves disease management and health outcomes and assess how educational interventions affect patient knowledge. The study will also track the effectiveness of Lebrikizumab, a medication used in cases of moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis.
