SECU celebrates 75 years of “People Helping People” with $75K birthday giveaway

On October 23, SECU (State Employees' Credit Union of Maryland) turned 75. To celebrate, Maryland's largest state-chartered credit union is launching SECU's $75K Birthday Giveaway, a sweepstakes that will surprise seven members across the state with more than $10,000 each.

The campaign invites members to share how SECU has been part of their journey, such as buying a first home or car, managing debt, or achieving a personal or business milestone. Entrants can submit a written story of at least 75 words (no more than 200 words) or a short video describing the impact SECU has had on their life.

This sweepstakes reflects SECU's ongoing commitment to supporting members' financial wellness by creating opportunities for meaningful progress. For each winner, more than $10,000 could help pay down debt, contribute to a home down payment, build emergency savings, cover an unexpected expense, or bring a long-term goal within reach by providing a financial boost with an impact that extends well beyond SECU's birthday celebration.

"For 75 years, 'people helping people' has guided every decision, every innovation, and every relationship at SECU," said Dave Sweiderk, president and CEO of SECU. "Our members have helped make SECU what it is today. From first homes to fresh starts, every member's story is a chapter in ours, and we can't wait to hear them and give back to the people who have made these 75 years possible."
