July 13, 2026 - The Sunshine Senior Center invites community members to attend "Strong Bones. Strong Future!" a free educational event designed to help adults learn practical, evidence-based strategies for maintaining healthy bones and reducing the risk of osteoporosis and fractures.
The program will be offered twice, providing two opportunities for residents to attend this program. Admission is free; however, registration is required.
Wednesday, July 15 from 1 to 3 p.m.
President Barack Obama Main Library, 3745 9th Ave. N
Tuesday, July 21 from 2 - 4 p.m.
Roberts Recreation Center, 1246 50th Ave. N
Participants will hear from Dr. Katherine Wojnowich, a board-certified sports medicine physician with the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute, who will discuss why bone health is essential for maintaining mobility, independence, and overall well-being as we age. Attendees will also discover simple lifestyle habits that can support lifelong bone health.
In addition to Wojnowich's presentation, attendees will enjoy:
The latest evidence-based recommendations for maintaining strong, healthy bones at every age
A live healthy cooking demonstration featuring nutritious, bone-supporting foods, along with samples
A take-home bone health resource guide
Opportunities to win exciting door prizes
Practical tools and tips to support lifelong bone health
This program is also part of a national research study. Participants will have the chance to learn more about the study after registering and may choose whether to participate.
