"The purpose of this project is to close the remaining gap in the Connecticut section of the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail by constructing a multi-use trail through Plainville that will provide users a continuous and safe transportation network through Connecticut," said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Stephen Hall. "We encourage the public to attend and share their feedback with the project team."
Right-of-way impacts will affect Norton Park for the construction of the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail.
Construction is anticipated to begin spring 2028 based on the availability of funding, acquisition of rights of way, and approval of permit(s). The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $28 million. This project is anticipated to be undertaken with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
