Main Street Intersection To Close For Box Culvert Installation
In Charleston Boulevard
Project Is Installing Storm Drain Infrastructure Maryland Parkway To Commerce Street
Starting Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, Main Street will be closed on the south side of Charleston Boulevard for approximatley three weeks, restricting north/south travel as large box culverts are installed below ground as part of the ongoing Charleston Boulevard Storm Drain Project. Marathon 24 hours/day work will continue until Aug. 15. The following two weeks work will contine 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Charleston Boulevard will remain open with one lane of traffic in each direction. See the map with closure and alternate routes.
Motorists should expect delays. Oakey Boulevard and Bonneville Avenue are recommended alternate routes for east/west travel and Las Vegas Boulevard for north/south travel. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained during construction.
Once the work at Main is finished, the project will move westward with a future intersection closure at Commerce Street. Only one major intersection on Charleston will be closed at a time, with work scheduled to be complete on the Casino Center Boulevard intersection this week.
The project includes the installation of storm drain infrastructure on Charleston from Maryland Parkway to Commerce and is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of 2027.
Harber Company, Inc. (doing business as Mountain Cascade of Nevada) is the contractor. The city of Las Vegas is managing the project. The estimated cost of the work is $49 million, funded by the Clark County Regional Flood Control District, Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada and the city of Las Vegas.
