JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Missourians in Scott County and specific zip codes in St. Louis City who lost food purchased with their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits due to severe storms, tornadic activity, and/or power outages on May 16, 2025, now have until July 16, 2025, to report their loss to the Family Support Division (FSD) for replacement benefits.
This extension comes after the United States Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Service approved a second extension request from the Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS) to waive the 10-day reporting requirement for replacement benefits. The original request for replacement benefits to purchase new food was set to expire on June 16, 2025.
"Natural disasters don't care about government timelines," said Director Jess Bax, DSS. "The department is taking steps to remove red tape and ensure Missourians affected by the recent disaster are able to have their basic needs met."
