MEMA ALERT: Flood Advisory For Portions Of Maui Island Until 10:30 PM This Evening

...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1030 PM HST THIS EVENING FOR THE
ISLAND OF MAUI IN MAUI COUNTY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall.

* WHERE...The island of Maui in Maui County.

* WHEN...Until 1030 PM HST.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in
streams.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 717 PM HST, radar indicated moderate to heavy showers
repeatedly developing over windward portions on Maui. Rain
was falling at a rate of 1 to 3 inches per hour.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Keanae, Kula, Nahiku, Kipahulu, Makawao, Pukalani, Huelo,
Kaupo, Keokea, Haliimaile, Haiku-Pauwela, Pauwela, Hana,
Paia, Haleakala National Park, Wailua, Kailua, Hookipa Beach
Park and Hamoa.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 1030 PM HST if flooding
persists.
