Heinrich Statement on Trump Firing Kristi Noem
WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) released the following statement in response to President Trump firing Kristi Noem as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security:
"Kristi Noem should never have been nominated or confirmed as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. And I've been calling for her to resign or be fired for months now. Unfortunately, she has done an incredible amount of damage during her tenure. Her departure couldn't have come soon enough."
Heinrich has been vocal in his criticism of Noem. Heinrich voted against Noem's nomination to lead DHS and has demanded that Noem be fired due to DHS' lawlessness.
