LCG PUBLIC SERVICE UPDATES: TRANSIT SUSPENDED, TRASH RESUMES

LCG PUBLIC SERVICE UPDATES: TRANSIT SUSPENDED, TRASH RESUMES

Lafayette, LA - Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) provides the following updates regarding public services on Friday, January 24, 2025.

Lafayette Transit System

Due to continued icy road conditions, Lafayette Transit Services will remain suspended on Friday, January 24, 2025, to prioritize the safety of passengers and drivers. Normal operations will resume as road conditions allow. For transit schedule updates, please call 337-291-8570.

AWS Waste Collections

Acadiana Waste Services (AWS) will resume curbside residential trash collection on Friday, January 24, 2025. All other curbside services (recycling, yard waste, etc.) are suspended to prioritize the removal of residential trash utilizing all trucks, staff, and equipment.

  • Tuesday and Wednesday trash routes will be collected on Friday, January 24.
  • Thursday and Friday trash routes will be collected on Saturday, January 25.

All curbside collections will resume normal operations beginning Monday, January 27. If you have any questions regarding your AWS collection services, please call 337-205-7710.

Warming Shelter

The Dupuis Recreation Center (1212 E. Pont Des Mouton Road) remains open as an active warming shelter for individuals who are unhoused or lack adequate heating in their homes. If you need transportation to the shelter, please call 211.

City-Parish Offices & Facilities

All City-Parish administrative offices will remain closed through Friday, January 24, and are expected to reopen Monday, January 27. LCG parks and recreation centers will remain closed through Saturday, January 25.
