On September 10, 2025, an international seminar titled "Joint Advancement of Green Development within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization" was held, organized by the Center for China Studies in Kazakhstan. The event brought together leading experts in ecology, sustainable development, green energy, and international cooperation from among the SCO member states, as well as representatives of government bodies, analytical centers, and international organizations.
In his welcoming remarks to the participants, Kazybek Köchkonov, Adviser to the SCO Secretariat, noted that, as a result of the Tianjin Summit of the Organization held recently (August 31-September 1, 2025), key decisions were adopted that set the vectors for further interaction among SCO member states in the field of sustainable and green development.
It was emphasized that the SCO countries consistently advocate the development of scientific and technical cooperation, the introduction of advanced energy technologies, the adoption of measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the creation of a carbon market, the modernization of infrastructure and a fair transition to a low-carbon economy.
The need to create a "green" future, strengthen scientific and technological exchange, and coordinate efforts in all areas of sustainable development was noted.
