Terracon Foundation Awards $5,000 Grant to Community Organized Relief Effort for Los Angeles Area Wildfire Disaster Relief

January 24, 2025

OLATHE, Kan. - The Terracon Foundation has made a $5,000 grant to Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE) to provide emergency funding for resources and financial assistance to people impacted by the devastating wildfires that recently struck communities in the Los Angeles area.

"Terracon and our employee-owners are honored to support relief efforts for communities that suffered the devastating effects of several wildfires," said Derek Koller, CIH, CHMM, chair of the Terracon Foundation and office manager based in Tucson, Ariz. "We hope that our support can help speed critical recovery efforts."

On Jan. 7, 2025, several major wildfires, fueled by unprecedented winds and unseasonably dry conditions, erupted across the greater Los Angeles area. At one point, nearly 180,000 people were evacuated, and 350,000 lost power. More than 12,000 structures have been destroyed - including homes, schools, and businesses. CORE offers support by providing cash assistance and other resources to meet the urgent needs of people in affected communities, while also helping rebuild over the long term.

The Terracon Foundation was established with a goal to reach out and become a real part of the lives of Terracon employees and the communities where they live and work. Established as the community investment arm of Terracon, the foundation has granted nearly $5 million to community organizations, universities, dependents of employees, and disaster relief efforts.

Terracon is an employee-owned engineering consulting firm with more than 7,000 employees providing environmental, facilities, geotechnical and materials services from more than 180 locations with services in all 50 states. In 2025, we celebrate Terracon's 60th anniversary with gratitude to our employee-owners and clients and excitement for the future as Our Adventure Continues.
