BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Celebrating a half-century of musical education and driving cultural vitality, the Bowling Green State University College of Musical Arts will hold a 50th anniversary gala concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, in Kobacker Hall at Moore Musical Arts Center, featuring 300 performers.

Culminating a year-long celebration of the BGSU college's educational impact, the concert will feature performances by the student-led BG Philharmonia, A Cappella Choir, Collegiate Chorale, University Choral Society, University Men's Chorus and Volaré. The concert will also include faculty soloists and award presentations.

The concert's final selection will feature Leonard Bernstein's "Let Your Garden Grow," uniting 300 performers on stage for a grand finale to honor the College of Musical Arts' 50th anniversary. A birthday cake celebrating the college's milestone moment will be served following the event for those who attend.

"For 50 years, the BGSU College of Musical Arts has thrived by honoring traditions and embracing innovation," said William Mathis, DMA, dean of the BGSU College of Musical Arts. "As we look to the future, we will continue this mindset, responding to a changing world, engaging with new technologies and welcoming fresh ideas. In doing so, we provide students with an environment that values exploration, nurtures adaptability and prepares them to shape the next 50 years of musical life and music education across the nation and around the world."

As one of the premier producers of music education teachers in Ohio, the BGSU College of Musical Arts has a long history of being at the forefront of musical innovation.

Home to multiple degree programs, one of the nation's largest college marching bands and the Bowling Green New Music Festival, the greater learning community remains as connected to music as ever through the college's educational and community programming.
