RIDERS AND COMMUNITIES CELEBRATE ONE YEAR OF DART SILVER LINE

Dallas, TX - One year ago this week, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) opened the Silver Line connecting the North Texas communities of Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, Dallas, Grapevine, Plano and Richardson to each other and DFW International Airport.

The 26-mile regional rail service opened October 25, 2025, in a day-long multi-city celebration, highlighting the unique attributes in the neighborhoods of each of the ten stations along the line. Reflecting back on that celebration, business leaders, community members, riders, city partners, and elected officials share what the impact of the Silver Line has meant for them over the past year:

"By providing a direct transit connection to DFW, the Silver Line has become an important part of the transportation network supporting North Texas' continued growth and competitiveness. This service milestone reflects our shared commitment to expanding mobility, connecting people to the destinations and opportunities that matter to them - while also strengthening our region's economic vitality. We congratulate DART on a successful first year of the Silver Line and look forward to the continued growth and benefits this service will bring to our communities." - Chris McLaughlin, Chief Executive Officer, DFW Airport

"The Silver Line is already making a difference in Addison. We've seen people use it to get to Kaboom Town! and Oktoberfest, and it's giving employees another way to get to work and travelers a convenient connection to DFW Airport. And we're just getting started. With infrastructure work on Addison Junction beginning soon, we're creating a new destination for dining, entertainment, and special events right next to the station. The Silver Line isn't just changing how people get to Addison. It's helping shape what Addison will become." - Bruce Arfsten, Mayor of Addison

"The Silver Line's first anniversary is a celebration of connection and opportunity for Richardson. Linking UT Dallas, our employment centers and DFW Airport strengthens our ability to attract investment and talent while giving residents, students and businesses more ways to reach the places that matter to them. New trail connections build on that investment, and the recently illuminated arches over US 75 provide a striking gateway to our community. These improvements reflect years of partnership and a shared commitment to our region's future. We're proud of what we've accomplished together and excited about the opportunities ahead." - Don Magner, City Manager, City of Richardson "The Silverline has shortened my commute. I enjoy using the tabletop desks to work on my laptop as I commute, and the price of my monthly pass is way less than what I would pay in tolls. I can be productive and not stressed by riding the train rather than driving in rush hour traffic." - Wayne Corum, commuter

"The Silver Line has brought UT Dallas and our region closer together. It expands access to our campus, connects our students, faculty and staff with opportunities across North Texas, and makes the university more accessible to the communities we serve. By strengthening connections between people, employers and key destinations across the region, the Silver Line also creates new opportunities for economic development, business growth and collaboration. We are grateful to DART for its investment in the transportation infrastructure that helps our university and our region thrive." - Prabhas Moghe, President, UT Dallas

When it opened, the Silver Line was the first rail expansion in a decade for DART. The connection to DFW airport also made that international hub accessible via three direct rail lines: Silver Line, TEXRail, and the Orange Line.

DART and the City of Richardson recently celebrated the lighting of the US-75 arches as part of the ongoing construction of the Silver Line and corresponding 51-mile Cotton Belt Trail connecting Plano to Downtown Fort Worth.

Recognizing the importance of connecting travelers with regional transportation options, DART and DFW airport are collaborating to provide training for airport ambassadors. DFW Volunteer Ambassadors assist travelers from around the world - helping them navigate the airport and understand their transportation options.
