The City of Fort Madison is seeking competitive quotes for façade protection and roof replacement work at the historic James Block Building located at 732 Avenue G. The project includes installing vinyl or metal siding on the west wall, along with replacement of partial sheathing and framing. Additionally, up to 2,500 square feet of roofing adjacent to the wall will be removed and replaced, including structural repairs as necessary. The total cost of work shall not exceed $170,000. This is a stipulated sum, single-prime contract, and all work must comply with specifications outlined in the project manual prepared by Poepping, Stone, Bach & Associates, Inc.
Bids are due by 3:00 PM on April 24, 2025, and must be submitted to the Planning and Zoning Office at Fort Madison City Hall, 811 Avenue E. Construction is required to begin by June 6, 2025. Drawings and specifications are available at City Hall, and site visits can be arranged by contacting Planning and Zoning Director Doug Krogmeier. The successful bidder will be required to provide appropriate bonding and insurance.
