NTCA Urges FCC to Streamline Wireline Permitting and Curb Excessive Fees
(September 21) In comments filed with the FCC, NTCA supported proposed reforms to reduce state and local permitting delays and excessive fees that hinder broadband deployment. NTCA urged the Commission to shorten its proposed 120-day permitting deadline to 90 days, preserve shorter state and local deadlines, and ensure that a single review period covers all required authorizations. NTCA also supported cost-based fee standards and urged restrictions on required in-kind contributions.
