As residents prepare to celebrate America's 250th Independence Day, the Cary Fire Department strongly encourages everyone to use extra caution with fireworks and open flames due to recent dry weather conditions. While no burn ban or fire restrictions are currently in effect, dry grass, leaves, and other vegetation and ignite quickly. Residents are encouraged to attend professionally managed firework displays whenever possible. Those choosing to use consumer fireworks should follow manufacturer instructions, keep a water source nearby, maintain a safe distance from homes, vehicles, trees, and dry vegetation, and never allow children to handle fireworks. Cary continues to monitor weather conditions and will share any burn bans or fire restrictions issued by state authorities through carync.gov, social media, Cary TV, and local media outlets. If you see a fire or an emergency situation, call 911 immediately.
