"We at the California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA) are thrilled that the High-Speed Rail mega-project is forging ahead to the next level. Thanks to unwavering commitments made by the Governor and the Legislature, California is doubling down on its promise to deliver the High-Speed Rail project by extending the Cap and Invest program with an astounding $1 billion annually for the project through 2045.
This extension of Cap and Invest also allocates $400 million in Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program funding and $200 million for the Low Carbon Transit Operations Program across the state annually.
All of this comes on the heels of an approved 2025/26 budget that supports investments to address short-term fiscal challenges for transit agencies and provides $25 million for a new Clean California Community Cleanup program, which will incentivize local communities to participate in keeping our state beautiful. As we gear up for the historic 2028 Olympic Games, the budget also invests $17.6 million to ensure we are fully prepared for the massive number of visitors traveling into and throughout our state.
These transportation investments and initiatives continue to build on CalSTA's Core Four priorities, and we are committed to improving the quality of life for all people across the golden state."
