BEIJING, March 27 -- The engineering contingent assigned to the 16th Chinese Peacekeeping Horizontal Engineering Company to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) successfully completed a four-day survey mission of the Tonj-Romich[PH1.1] supply route.

This supply route is a vital transport artery in South Sudan, stretching 112 kilometers and connecting multiple counties, towns and villages. The road conditions along the entire route are substandard, causing considerable inconvenience to the local production and daily life.

During the mission, the Chinese peacekeeping contingent surveyed 23 villages as well as 19 bridges and culverts, and completed on-site inspection and registration of two borrow pits and one water point. It also delineated 37 kilometers of priority construction sections and 58 kilometers of routine maintenance sections, laying a solid foundation for subsequent operations.
