Negative Declaration
Ulster County - The Town of Rosendale Planning Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Eddyville Logging Special Use Permit Application will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the selective removal of approximately 315 mature timber trees totaling 66,150 board feet from an approximately 35 acre harvest area. The total inventory includes approximately 9,600 existing trees. Species to be harvested include Red, White, and Rock Oak, as well as Sugar Maple, Red Maple, White Pine, and Eastern Hemlock. In addition to the mature timber trees, an additional 610 low quality cull trees will be removed to reduce the basal area from 110 square foot per acre to 70 square foot per acre, as recommended by New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC)/ United States Forest Service guidelines for New England Upland Hardwood Forests. The goal of this harvest is to reduce overcrowding, release desirable crop trees, and provide conditions for natural regeneration of the species present. The project is located on DeWitt Mills Road in the Town of Rosendale, New York.
