The annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) will take place in Davos, Switzerland, on 19-23 January. Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen and Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will attend the meeting.
The theme of this year's meeting is 'A Spirit of Dialogue', which highlights the importance of dialogue in an era marked by an increasingly tense global geopolitical situation, rising fragmentation, societal changes, innovation-driven growth and sustainability challenges.
On 20 January, Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will attend a panel discussion examining the path to peace in Ukraine. Other panellists include the Canadian and French foreign ministers. Foreign Minister Valtonen's programme also includes several bilateral meetings, discussion events and giving interviews to the international media.
Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will meet with representatives of international organisations and companies in Davos and promote Finnish exports in bilateral meetings and various events. Minister Tavio will attend a high-level panel discussion on Nordic innovations and open an event organized by the Finnish-Swiss Chamber of Commerce.
The WEF annual meeting brings together nearly 3,000 participants from more than 130 countries. Among the participants are several heads of state, ministers, international organisations, private sector actors and representatives of civil society and the media. President of the Republic Alexander Stubb will also attend the meeting.
