Norfolk Southern Railroad Work Planned for South Elm Street Railroad Crossing

The City has been informed that beginning Monday, February 23, Norfolk Southern will close a portion of South Elm Street at the railroad crossing to upgrade the tracks at the crossing. The work is projected to be completed by March 6.

During the Norfolk Southern closure, the railroad crossing will be closed to all through traffic, including pedestrians. Detour signage will be posted to divert motorists and pedestrians around the work area. Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow additional travel time during the closure. Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions and operational needs.
