May 4, 2026 - The City of Bettendorf's Parks & Recreation Department is inviting the community to give their input on a new playground scheduled for replacement at Kiwanis Park, as well as what other upgrades or additions they want to see in the future.
Kiwanis Park (4233 Greenbrier Drive) features a baseball field and batting cage, recently repainted pickleball courts, a recently added StoryWalk, two tennis courts, a rentable park shelter, a public restroom, and, coming soon, a futsal court. It also features an aging playground, for which Bettendorf City Council has set a $150,000 budget to replace.
"Kiwanis Park is one of our incredible neighborhood parks that the surrounding community loves," said Parks & Recreation Director John Byrnes. "One of the final facets of the park that needs attention is the playground, which is around 20 years old. Updating the playground will complete this park as the community gathers and plays for decades to come!"
A Community Input Event will be held on Thursday, May 14 from 5-7 p.m. at Kiwanis Park for residents to share their thoughts on what kind of playground they'd like to see. There will be free food and an opportunity for parkgoers of all ages to "make their mark" on their favorite park features and submit their own ideas. You can learn more by visiting a special webpage created for this project.
"We want to hear directly from you, the everyday users of Kiwanis Park," said Byrnes. "The style of playground, the types of features, and all the details should reflect what the neighborhood wants to see every day. Come enjoy some food and tell us what the future of Kiwanis Park should look like!"Copy and paste this code into your website.
