July is recognized nationwide as Parks & Recreation Month, a time to celebrate the vital role that parks, programs and recreational spaces play in building strong, healthy communities. In Bellflower, the Parks and Recreation Department works year-round to provide welcoming spaces, engaging programs and events that bring neighbors together.
"Our parks are the heartbeat of Bellflower," said PJ Mellana, Parks and Recreation Director. "Whether it's a child's first karate class or a senior's morning walk, these spaces offer more than just recreation - they provide a sense of belonging and a boost to our collective well-being. This month, we invite everyone to step outside and rediscover the shared spaces that connect our community."
The department's services play an important role in supporting both mental and physical wellness, while enhancing overall quality of life for residents of all ages. Throughout July, the City encourages residents to take full advantage of Bellflower's recreational offerings.
Whether you prefer a brisk morning walk, an afternoon at the playground or a local community event, there is no better time to celebrate the spaces that help our City thrive.
