Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that Saleh Q. Mohamed, 29, of Cheektowaga, was arraigned this afternoon before State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges on an indictment charging him with three counts of Murder in the First Degree and four counts of Murder in the Second Degree (Class A-I felonies).
It is alleged that on Monday, June 1, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Cheektowaga Police officers responded to a residence on Ellen Drive after receiving a 911 call. Police found the three victims, 26-year-old Aaisha Abdulla, a 4-year-old boy and a 3-year-old boy, deceased inside of the home. The defendant is accused of intentionally causing the death of his wife and two children.
It is further alleged that earlier on Monday, June 1, 2026, at approximately 2:38 p.m., Buffalo Police officers responded to a store on the 1000 block of Grant Street near Military Road for a reported shooting. The victim, 43-year-old Shukri Muthana, died at the scene. The defendant is accused of intentionally causing the death of the store clerk.
Mohamed is scheduled to return for a pre-trial conference on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. He continues to be held without bail.
If convicted of the highest counts, Mohamed faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole.
DA Keane commends Lt. Daniel Albrecht, Detective Lt. Justin Haag and members of the Cheektowaga Police Department as well as the Buffalo Police Department for their work in this investigation.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Justin H. Caldwell and Assistant District Attorney Frank A. Strano of the Homicide Bureau with the assistance of Deputy District Attorney Eugene T. Partridge, III.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
