RPT offering “A Warm Place to Be”

January 16, 2026 - ROCHESTER, MINN. - In response to extreme cold wind chill conditions this weekend Rochester Public Transit (RPT) will implement "A Warm Place to Be," a program that allows those who need to escape dangerous weather conditions to board an RPT bus without paying a fare.

Starting with Saturday, January 17 morning service, and extending through Tuesday, January 20 those caught outside in a dangerous situation can simply notify an RPT driver that they need to escape the cold and warm up, and no fare will be charged to board the bus.
