DENVER - Republican Victor Marx is attempting to evade accountability and explain away his violent past - and is not succeeding. Following new reporting this week that Marx previously said he pushed his wife into a wall, tossed his toddler son across a room, and pulled a knife on a psychiatrist who was treating him, Marx went on a live radio show and onceagain admitted to these violent incidents, without apology or regret.
And yet Colorado Republicans are still silent on Marx's own admissions of violent behavior, including endangered congressional Republicans Jeff Hurd, Jeff Crank and Gabe Evans, and their statewide down-ballot candidates.
Even Greg Lopez, the hardline conservative Unaffiliated candidate for governor who has been unable to avoid his own criminal charges fordomestic abuse, held Marx accountable:
"I think that [story] speaks volumes to the character of that individual and how he looks at things. I think he's probably one of those individuals that needs a lot of counseling, needs a lot of attention to manage his anger."
Listen to Lopez's comments here.
"Republican Victor Marx's behavior is shocking - laughing about harm done to your wife and child, or boasting about your own violent behavior is absolutely intolerable. This is what Republicans stand for this election: recklessness, and callous indifference to the people around them." - Colorado Democratic Party spokesperson Kailee Stiles.
