Maimonides Children’s Hospital Marks One Year Anniversary of Landmark Emergency Department Expansion, 14% Increase in Patients Served

Brooklyn's Only Standalone Pediatric Emergency Department

Brooklyn, NY, October 21, 2026 - Maimonides Children's Hospital is celebrating a year of excellence in pediatric emergency care, marking the first anniversary of the October 2025 opening of its expanded, fully renovated Children's Emergency Department.

With the largest standalone children's emergency department and only dedicated pediatric trauma center in Brooklyn, Maimonides served 14% more patients this year through the expanded space and new world-class facilities.

The new ED quadrupled the amount of pediatric emergency care space, with 32 treatment areas, separate ambulance and walk-in entrances, and advanced on-site imaging, in a redesigned, child-friendly environment designed for enhanced comfort for patients and families.
