Defence Secretary Delivers Lecture at the National Defence College

Sharing his expertise and wisdom, Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) delivered a lecture to student officers at the National Defence College (NDC) in Colombo today (7 November).

Defence Secretary delivered this annual lecture at the invitation of the NDC Commandant, Major General Chamila Munasinghe, who warmly received the Defence Secretary upon his arrival this morning.

Delivering his lecture to the local and foreign course participants, the Defence Secretary emphasized that the National Defence College (NDC) plays a vital role in shaping leaders who understand the full spectrum of security challenges and opportunities. He noted that NDC training is not merely academic but transformational, adding that Sri Lanka's experience shows security is an interconnected concept. "True strategic leadership is not about predicting the future; it is about preparing for it," he remarked.'

The lecture session was conducted as part of the National Security and Strategic Studies course curriculum.
The National Defence College (NDC) is dedicated to imparting knowledge and developing future leaders capable of functioning as strategic thinkers in the fields of national security, statecraft, diplomacy, and public policy, in order to safeguard and advance national interests.

The NDC Commandant also presented a commemorative memento to the Defence Secretary as a token of appreciation and goodwill.
