On May 19-21, 2026, the "International Conference on Sister-City Cooperation Chongqing 2026" was held in Chongqing, China, organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chongqing Municipal People's Government.
The event was attended by delegations from Belarus, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Italy, the Republic of South Africa, Egypt, Greece, Hungary, the United Kingdom, the United States, Slovakia, Mongolia, the Republic of Korea, Laos, and Algeria, as well as representatives of the SCO Secretariat.

The conference was held under the theme "Interregional Cooperation for Common Development" with the motto for this year: "Building Quality Cities for a Better Life."
The program included presentations on the cultural and tourism potential of various regions, a dialogue on joint and mutually beneficial efforts to build the new international land-sea trade corridor, the Western China International Investment and Trade Fair, as well as thematic meetings and negotiations between representatives of sister cities.
Participants noted that holding the conference alongside the Western China International Investment and Trade Fair helped expand opportunities for international and interregional cooperation, strengthen partnership ties between sister cities, and enhance trade, economic, and humanitarian exchanges.
