"Sustainable Life in the EU" Campaign Showcases Everyday Sustainable Practices Across 27 EU Member States on Chinese Social Media

The Delegation of the European Union to China is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the "Sustainable Life in the EU" social media campaign, with all 27 episodes now available online. Over the course of two seasons over two years, this campaign has highlighted how diverse and innovative approaches to advance the green transition are integrated into daily life in EU Member States.

A dynamic group of influencers from both Europe and China shared with Chinese audiences the everyday practices undertaken in the EU to live sustainably. After a first season featuring 13 EU Member States was released in 2023, a second season followed in 2025, completing the coverage of all of the EU's 27 Member States.

Across the EU's 27 Member States, the influencers found a vast diversity of different practices: from low-carbon consumption and sustainable farming to clean energy, water conservation, waste reduction, and biodiversity protection. The videos demonstrated how sustainability principles are embedded in European norms, values and cultural traditions, underscoring that sustainability is not only a matter of policy, but a shared way of life that evolves through creativity and cooperation.

Available on both international and Chinese social media platforms such as Weibo, WeChat, Bilibili, Rednote, Douyin etc, the campaign has reached wide audiences. To date, the series has garnered nearly 28 million online views, reflecting strong public interest in sustainable lifestyles and the positive impact of global dialogue on environmental issues. By combining engaging visual storytelling with authentic voices, "Sustainable Life in the EU" aimed to serve as a bridge between European and Chinese communities committed to building a more sustainable future.

As the campaign concludes, Laurent Bardon, Head of the Green Transition section at the EU Delegation to China, expressed that sustainability is not just about drafting policies and showcasing innovations. By sharing these 27 stories, we are opening a window into our daily lives to show that sustainability is a collection of small, meaningful choices we all make together. We hope to inspire more exchange and cooperation between the EU and China, as we work together toward a greener future.
