The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting registration for R.E.D. ZONE, a multi-city youth football and flag football league, as well as girls basketball.
R.E.D. ZONE Tackle Football
Tackle football is for children ages 7-12 and the cost is $75 per player. Greensboro residents who have participated previously can sign up online for football.
The tackle football teams will play against teams from High Point and Thomasville. First-time participants should sign up in person at the nearest recreation center during normal business hours or at the Greensboro Sportsplex between 9 am and 4 pm. Parents interested in the program must present the child's birth certificate and a Parents Association for Youth Sports (PAYS) membership card when registering for the first time. R.E.D. ZONE Flag Football
The flag-football program costs $75 for male and female participants ages 5-13, and feature five individual leagues, including: 5-7 (coed), 8-10 (male and female), and 11-13 (male and female). The age cut off for flag football is Wednesday, April 1. Practices will be held at Glenwood multipurpose field, 2010 Coliseum Blvd., and games will take place at Hester Park, 3615 Deutzia St.
R.E.D. ZONE Football Cheer
Cheerleaders are invited to participate in the summer cheer skills camp and the upcoming football season. The beginner camp will take place June 1-5, and the advanced camp will run from June 8-12. Registration begins Monday, May 4, and runs through Saturday, May 23, for ages 5-14. The fee is $40 per camp.
Registration for R.E.D. ZONE football cheer will run from Tuesday, April 7, through Saturday, July 25, and cost $75 per child. Age is determined as of September 1.
Girls Basketball Summer League
The youth girls summer basketball league is now taking registrations for girls aged 8-13 from now through Tuesday, April 7. The cost is $75 per player, which includes a game jersey. Age divisions will be 8-10 years old and 11-13 years old.
Games and practices will be held from 6-8:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings starting the first week in April at the Greensboro Sportsplex, 2400 Sixteenth St.
