On 23 June 2026, H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Republic of Korea, led Ambassadors and representatives from the ASEAN Committtee in Seoul (ACS) on a joint courtesy call on Mr. Cha Yong-ho, Commissioner of the Korea Immigration Service (KIS) at Naru Hotel McGallery, Seoul. The joint courtesy call served as an opportunity for both sides to exchange ideas on how to foster closer collaboration, especially on immigration issues and the protection of ASEAN nationals in the Republic of Korea, as well as the protection of human rights.
Ambassador Tanee raised the issue of refusals for entry into the Republic of Korea for Thai nationals and reiterated his recommendations for KIS to make the Korea Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA) application process more stringent, in lieu of refusals for entry on arrival.
