New Utility Billing Accounts Limited to Property Owners Effective March 1, 2026

Starting March 1, 2026, only property owners can establish new utility billing accounts in the City of Fort Lauderdale.

Only accounts established after March 1, 2026, are impacted by this new ordinance; current tenant accounts remain unchanged unless service is disconnected. If service is disconnected, it can only be reestablished by the property owner. Once accounts are established by property owners, tenants can receive bills "in care of" the property owner.
