Idaho Power Helps Kids Connect with their Community at Rodeo 101

Hundreds of Canyon County kids got to experience Idaho's western heritage first-hand at Rodeo 101, a free youth rodeo event hosted by Caldwell Night Rodeo. The Idaho Power Foundation joined as a top sponsor this year, ensuring children from the Caldwell area Boys & Girls Club and YMCA could attend at no cost.

Throughout the day, kids tried roping, riding, and other rodeo skills with help from professional cowboys and community volunteers, including Idaho Power employees. For many, it was also their first introduction to farm animals and agriculture.

"Many of our kids don't often get to experience rodeo or farm life," said Melissa Gentry, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Canyon County. "They start shy and unsure, but once they try it out, their smiles light up your world."

The event highlights Idaho Power's commitment to supporting the local communities they serve and preserving Idaho's western roots.

"Rodeo 101 is a perfect fit for Idaho Power," said Angelique Rood, Vice President of Idaho Power. "We get to combine our support for youth programs and our love of ag in a one-day event."

A video of the event is on Idaho Power's YouTube page.
