Council will consider nominations for the National Register

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, OCT. 8, 2025 - The Missouri Advisory Council on Historic Preservation will consider 11 nominations to the National Register of Historic Places during its quarterly meeting beginning at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 10 at the Lewis and Clark State Office Building, 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City. Remote participation is also available as outlined below.

  • African American Heritage in Kansas City, Missouri, Multiple Property Documentation Form, Kansas City, Jackson County.
  • Fire Station No. 11, 2033 Vine St., Kansas City, Jackson County (under the African American Heritage in Kansas City, Missouri).
  • Phillis Wheatley School/Willis Chapel AME Church, 5332 South Benton Ave., Kansas City, Jackson County (under the African American Heritage in Kansas City, Missouri).
  • Stephen Baptist Church, 1414 E Truman Rd., Kansas City, Jackson County (under the African American Heritage in Kansas City, Missouri).
  • The Edge of the Ville Integration Historic District, multiple addresses, St. Louis.
  • Englewood Theater, 10917 E. Winner Rd., Independence, Jackson County.
  • Inter-state Grocers Coffee Building, 927-929 Virginia Ave., Joplin, Jasper County.
  • White Way Oil Company Station, 5 Broadway, Monett, Barry County.
  • Northampton Commercial Historic District, 4247, 4251, 4301 S. Kingshighway, St. Louis.
  • Princess Theatre, 202 S. Franklin St., Kirksville, Adair County.
  • James Henning House, 21408 County Road 198, St. Francisville, Clark County.

The Missouri Advisory Council on Historic Preservation is a group of historians, architects, archaeologists and citizens with an interest in historic preservation. The council is appointed by the governor and works with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources' State Historic Preservation Office, which administers the National Register of Historic Places program for Missouri. The council meets quarterly to review Missouri property nominations to the National Register, the nation's honor roll of historic properties. Approved nominations are forwarded to the Keeper of the National Register in Washington, D.C., for final approval.
