SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Clinicians from the Allegheny Health Network Primary Care Institute are now managing the Slippery Rock University Student Health Center, providing convenient, on-campus access to high-quality care. This partnership is designed to improve health care access and services for SRU students.
The Student Health Center, led by medical director and family medicine physician Dr. Sunjay Mannan, is now staffed by a team of experienced AHN registered nurses and advanced practice providers. Services offered include same-day treatment for common illnesses and injuries; preventative care such as annual physicals, screenings and immunizations; and ongoing support for individuals managing chronic conditions, women's health concerns and mental health challenges.
"This partnership exemplifies AHN's commitment to providing accessible, high-quality care to the communities we serve," said says Dr. Amy Crawford-Faucher, chair, AHN Primary Care Institute. "By bringing the expertise of AHN clinicians directly to campus, we aim to foster a healthier and even more productive learning environment for SRU students."
The Student Health Center, which is now located in the renovated Campus Success Center, is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays, noon to 5 p.m. For urgent needs outside of these hours, students will have 24/7 access to telehealth services through MyChart, providing virtual consultations with AHN providers.
For health issues requiring more advanced care, seamless referral to the emergency department at the nearby AHN Grove City Hospital will be facilitated.
"Slippery Rock University looks forward to partnering with Allegheny Health Network as we expand our service offerings for our students," said David Wilmes, SRU vice president for student affairs. "AHN has a proven track record of providing high-quality student health services to colleges and universities in western Pennsylvania. We are excited to be able to align our dedications to value, care and support to benefit our campus community."
