NEW POLLING: One Year Since Trump’s Election, an Overwhelming Majority of Voters Disapprove of Trump’s Economy Arrow

Americans Believe Trump Has Failed on His Campaign Promises

Last November, Donald Trump was elected on the promise of bringing down costs for working families. One year later, new polling shows that nearly two-thirds of voters think Trump has worsened the economy, and 72% indicated that the economy is in poor shape. In another warning sign for Trump: More than 1-in-3 voters believe that he's not even trying to fulfill any of his campaign promises.

Americans are prepared to send Trump and Republicans a clear message in tomorrow's elections. Registered Democratic voters were far more likely than Republican voters - by a 21-point margin - to indicate that they are extremely motivated to vote in the 2026 midterm elections.

In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

"Donald Trump can't hide from the damage he's done to the economy - it's no surprise that voters are fed up. Just yesterday, Trump again claimed that grocery prices are going down - in reality, working families are getting stuck with skyrocketing prices as mass layoffs surge. Despite his campaign promises to bring down costs, everyday Americans are struggling to make ends meet. Meanwhile, Trump is throwing Gatsby-themed parties for his billionaire buddies and selling out working families for his own political gain."

Under Trump's economy, prices on nearly everything, including groceries, rent, and utilities are soaring, and jobs are disappearing. And prices are only going to get higher. New data show that Trump's tariffs could cost consumers nearly $30 billion in holiday spending costs. What's worse, 22 million Americans are now reckoning with massive hikes on their health care premiums as enhanced ACA premium tax credits are set to expire. Trump is taking a wrecking ball to the economy with his disastrous policies, and make no mistake: Voters are paying attention.
