Starting on Friday, Sept. 5 at 9 a.m., the intersection at Tejon Street and Pikes Peak Avenue needs to temporarily transition to an all-way, signed stop due to construction activities for the Tejon Revitalization Project.
Drivers are reminded to follow posted signs and remember the multi-way stop law in Colorado:
Traffic signals are expected to return to normal function as construction is completed.
The intersection change accompanies the City's temporary closure of Tejon to vehicle traffic from Pikes Peak Avenue to Kiowa Street.
Street parking will not be available on that single block of Tejon Street until further notice. Businesses on this block will receive vouchers for two hours' free parking at any of the three City garages nearby.
Pedestrian walkways will be available on Tejon between Pikes Peak and Kiowa. Business access remains open via these walkways throughout the project's construction.
Looking ahead, construction will make way for the community's three special events that utilize Tejon Street:
The Tejon Street Revitalization Project has reopened Tejon from Colorado Avenue to Pikes Peak Avenue to vehicle traffic and diagonal parking via convenient payment kiosks. Among the goals of the project are expansion of outdoor dining areas and sidewalks to increase public safety, pedestrian accessibility and business activity.
