City Issues Weekly Traffic and Travel Advisory for Special Events, Street Repaving, Other Construction or Repair Projects

Wilmington's Public Works Department has compiled the attached list of streets on which construction or maintenance will occur this week by the City itself, or by either DelDOT, Delmarva Power, or private contractors. This information is for Monday, May 25, through Friday, June 5, 2026.

The City's website contains a real-time map that is updated daily so you can follow any changes to the weekly schedule caused by weather or other construction-related delays.Public Works Commissioner Kelly Williams said every effort is made to compile the most accurate list each week of street projects that could affect your travel in the City the following week. Shecautioned, however, that the time frames for the listed projects could be altered if they are delayed due to factors such as the weather.

Wilmington government offices will be closed today, Monday, May 25, for Memorial Day. As a result, the Department of Public Works' Sanitation Division will collect trash and recyclables on a modified holiday schedule.

The modified holiday schedule is as follows:

  • Monday, May 25: City Holiday / No Collection
  • Tuesday, May 26: East of I-95 trash collection
  • Wednesday, May 27: West of I-95 trash collection
  • Thursday, May 28: East of I-95 recyclable collection
  • Friday, May 29: West of I-95 recyclable collection

Ladybug Music Festival
The popular (and FREE) Ladybug Music Festival [us.list-manage.com], the largest women-focused music festival in the country, returns to Downtown Wilmington Saturday, May 30, beginning at noon. Featuring more than 30 established and emerging female artists across seven stages, headlined by New Orleans native Mia Borders.
Motorists should be aware of the following street closures on Saturday, May 30, from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. (May 31):

  • Market Street between 4th Street and 6th Streets
  • 5th Street between Shipley and King Streets
  • 6th Street between Shipley and King Streets
