Safety Warning and Disposal Options for Rad Power E-Bike Batteries

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued an urgent safety warning, advising consumers to immediately stop using lithium-ion batteries for Rad Power Bikes e-bike models RP-1304 and HL-RP-S1304. These batteries should be removed from the e-bikeand disposed of through approved hazardous waste disposal channels. Please refer to Rad Power Bikes' safety information and instructions on proper removal of the affected batteries.

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facilities are closed for the holiday weekend; however, several disposal options are available, and additional opportunities are being coordinated. Updates will be provided on this page of the IWMA website.

• Best Buy stores are currently accepting these batteries at no cost.
• Cold Canyon Landfill Household Hazardous Waste Facility - IWMA is hosting a One Time Special Collection Event focused on these Li-Ion Batteries and other electronic waste. The Facility will be open for residential disposal on Saturday, November 29, 2025 - 11 AM - 3 PM.

HHW Facilities Reopen Following Thanksgiving Break
Beginning December 5, residents may bring affected batteries to the following Household Hazardous Waste Facilities at no cost;

• Nipomo Hazardous Waste Facility - Saturdays 11 AM - 3PM
• Cold Canyon Landfill, San Luis Obispo - Fridays and Saturdays 11 AM - 3PM
• Morro Bay Hazardous Waste Facility - Saturdays 11 AM - 3PM
• Chicago Grade Landfill, Templeton - Saturdays 11 AM - 3PM
• Paso Landfill, Paso Robles - Saturdays 11 AM - 3 PM
• Heritage Ranch (Heritage Ranch residents only) - Fridays 12 PM - 2 PM
