American Job Center Hosts Events in December

The American Job Center (AJC), 1330 "N" St. Suite A, invites community members to a variety of career finding and support events in December.

Those attending may park for free in the Park & Go garage at 14th and "N" streets. Participants must sign in at the front desk and provide a license plate number. All events are at the AJC and the schedule is as follows:

Tuesday, December 16

  • Veterans Affairs Outreach - 8 a.m. to noon

Wednesday, December 17

  • BMO Financial Wellbeing Workshop: Identity Theft - 11 a.m. to noon

Thursday, December 18

  • Job Readiness Workshop: Resumes/Cover Letters - 1 to 2 p.m.

Friday, December 19

  • Job Readiness Workshop: Interviewing - 9 to 10 a.m.

Monday, December 22

  • Unemployment Insurance Basics Workshop - 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Tuesday, December 23

  • Veterans Affairs Outreach - 8 a.m. to noon

Friday, December 26

  • Job Readiness Workshop: Interviewing - 9 to 10 a.m.
  • Allied One Source Staffing - 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Monday, December 29

  • Unemployment Insurance Basics Workshop: Interviewing - 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Tuesday, December 30

  • Veterans Affairs Outreach - 8 a.m. to noon
  • Advanced Services - 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The American Job Center offers several coaching and training programs:

  • Adult Program for those ages 18 and older
  • Dislocated Worker Program for those affected by a layoff or closure
  • Youth Employment Support Services for those ages 14 to 24.
  • Ticket to Work program to help those who receive disability benefits return to work or begin working for the first time
  • SNAP Next Step Employment and Training Program for those currently receiving SNAP benefits

Features of the American Job Center include conference and interview rooms allow clients to meet potential employers and career planners. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology such as free Wi-Fi, webcams, televisions and iPads, the rooms allow clients to interview for potential jobs in person or virtually.
