Motel Converted to Supportive Housing in Redondo Beach

A new permanent supportive housing community has opened in Los Angeles County! The Moonstone in Redondo Beach provides 20 homes for individuals exiting homelessness.

A conversion of the Pacific Inn Motel, the Moonstone is a project of Century Housing and the County of Los Angeles. Residents will have access to on-site supportive services including case management and independent living skills and vocational training. The complex is located in an opportunity-rich neighborhood near transit, a health facility, and a pharmacy.

"The intensive case management planned for all residents at The Moonstone is critical to helping the lowest-income, chronically homeless Californians maintain housing stability and translate that stability into other areas of their lives," said HCD Director Gustavo Velasquez.

The Moonstone was funded by more than $7.3 million from HCD's Homekey program. HCD recently announced the first awards for its new Homekey+ program, which helps support the development of more permanent supportive housing for veterans and other Californians living with behavioral health challenges.
