“Picnic on the Prairie” Cancelled Due to Weather

The Marion Arts Council and City of Marion Parks and Recreation Department have announced the cancellation of Picnic on the Prairie, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, at Lowe Park.

Due to the forecasted cool temperatures and potential for rain, the Cedar Rapids Community Orchestra's outdoor performance does not meet its temperature threshold, particularly for its string instruments. After exploring options to make the event work, organizers have made the decision to cancel the event to avoid additional performance-related expenses.

Picnic on the Prairie was planned to feature an evening of live music and art, including a performance by the Cedar Rapids Community Orchestra, face painting, a caricaturist, crafts with Artistic Fusion, food trucks and more.
