Aspirus St. Luke’s Ashland Clinic & Memorial Blood Centers Partner to Host Community Blood Drive
Aspirus St. Luke's Ashland Clinic is helping meet a critical community need by partnering with Memorial Blood Centers to host a blood drive on Wednesday, November 4 from 10 am to 1 pm.
Blood donations play a vital role in patient care, helping those undergoing surgery, cancer treatment, trauma care, and other medical procedures. According to Memorial Blood Centers, about 65 percent of the population can donate blood, but only three percent do. Despite that, millions of patients rely on blood donations each year. Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood or platelets.
"We are proud to partner with Memorial Blood Centers to host this blood drive and provide our community with an opportunity to make a difference," said Aspirus St. Luke's Ashland Clinic Manager Laurel Mills. "A single donation can help save multiple lives, and the need for blood, plasma and platelets remains constant. We hope community members consider giving if they are able. It's a simple act that has a profound impact on patients who depend on these lifesaving resources."
"Our mission is to serve our communities and to ensure that our hospitals have the blood they need before patients arrive," said Jennifer Kaluza, Executive Director of Operations at Memorial Blood Centers. "We are grateful to our partners at Aspirus Health, whose support and collaboration are critical to this effort. After a challenging summer and fall season, we are asking everyone who's eligible to donate now so blood is available for the next trauma patient, the next surgery, and every patient whose care depends on a lifesaving transfusion."
