California Leaders Announce Landmark Clean Energy, Climate and Affordability Solutions

SACRAMENTO - The Governor, Senate Pro Tem and Assembly Speaker announced on Wednesday groundbreaking new energy, climate and affordability solutions that position California for a future with lower utility costs, cleaner and more reliable power, and stronger partnership among states across the West.

"We're building a new foundation that delivers lower energy costs and more money for California families. And we took the time to get it right because real change, reduced prices and protecting homeowners is essential. This historic agreement puts California on a pathway with Western states to provide cleaner, cheaper, more reliable energy. It's a landmark affordability agreement that will amount to billions of dollars in savings for Californians."

"After months of hard work with the Legislature, we have agreed to historic reforms that will save money on your electric bills, stabilize gas supply, and slash toxic air pollution - all while fast-tracking California's transition to a clean, green job-creating economy."

Today's agreement comes after months of focused work, with the goal of stabilizing consumer energy costs and driving California's clean energy transition, the cornerstone for real and lasting energy savings for California families.

The policy in the agreement includes:

• SB 237: Stabilizes oil production in California
• SB 352: Environmental justice
• SB 254: Provides new savings for utility ratepayers through public infrastructure financing and solutions to protect ratepayers and fire victims through California's wildfire fund
• AB 825: Unlocks the pathway to a regional electricity partnership across the West to harness more clean and renewable power
• SB 840 and AB 1207: Advances California's signature climate program and delivers higher utility rebates for families
