The University of Akron School of Law is now offering a new baccalaureate-juris doctor degree pathway for future law professionals in collaboration with The University of Findlay.
The new 3+3 pathway allows eligible students to enroll at the University of Findlay for three years while completing an additional three years with Akron Law. This progressive degree allows students to apply as soon as their first year of undergraduate study, potentially reducing the time and costs associated with both degrees.
Concurrent courses will enable students to obtain a baccalaureate degree from University of Findlay while also completing credits toward a juris doctor degree granted by Akron Law.
"We are thrilled to partner with the University of Findlay on a 3+3 partnership to give even more Findlay students the opportunity to attend law school and save both time and tuition, while receiving a rigorous legal education at Akron Law," said Barbara C. DiGiacomo, J.D., associate dean of administration and enrollment management at Akron Law. "We already receive quite a few applications from Findlay students every year, but we expect this new partnership to strengthen the bond between our two institutions even more."
The collaboration with the University of Findlay is Akron Law's 19th such 3+3 pathway with a higher education institution. Akron Law partners with universities and colleges in Ohio Indiana, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Findlay is a private university located in Findlay, Ohio.
University of Findlay students interested in this program will receive a specialized degree plan and advising support from both institutions while enrolled. Students will pay University of Findlay tuition rates for the first three years before transitioning to Akron Law tuition rates for their final three years of the program.
"Students who are interested in the University of Findlay and pursuing law will have exceptional access to academic resources to prepare for their career in law at a lower cost than might otherwise be possible," said University of Findlay Vice President of Enrollment and Marketing Nikki Hintze.
"We love Findlay students because they come to us well-prepared for law school with outstanding writing and oral communication skills, and a strong work ethic," DiGiacomo said. "We're excited to welcome more of these exceptional students into our J.D. program.
